The authors conclude that only approximately one third of the samples were acceptable as these were from the middle part of urination, stored in an acceptable container and delivered in less than four hours or stored at a cooled temperature.

Urinary tract infections account for a high number of contacts in the general practice. In this descriptive study from 3 Danish practices, 60 patients delivering urine samples produced at their own homes answered an anonymous questionnaire focusing on sampling, storing and transportation of the urine samples before delivery to the general practice.
