Hyperbaric oxygen is an adjuvant treatment option for patients with difficult to heal diabetic foot ulcers. This cohort study describes the referral pattern, treatment and prognosis of 148 diabetic patients treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Denmark in the period 1999-2016. The author conclude that the referrals were mostly dependent on local factors as geography rather than guided by standardized procedures and call for prospective studies to identify patients who benefit the most.
